Letting Go

I had decided In early January that I was going to DE clutter my life and our home. It was not a resolution as I have given up on resolutions but it was a manifesto of something I intended to do. I recalled reading last year about some great souls removing one item from their house each week and I thought that was a marvelous way to approach it. I was going to up the anti and remove one item a day until Earth Day. I have secretly stashed items in bags and boxes each day and today more than 60 items will leave my home via the Kidney Donation truck, (why because they pick up). I thought at first I should start a new pile but I really think piling up the stuff really added to my stress level so I will attempt to physically remove the item from my home on a daily (or something like that) basis. My only fear is that the pile will just reappear in my trunk:) I had thought to take a picture of my mound but alas in the mad rush of our daily morning ritual I forgot to get the snap shot I had wanted. I do intend however to document every item from here on out. So I am officially declaring Wed. Wipe the slate clean day and it will conveniently coincide with Wordless wed. No worries people no children or pets will be removed for the sole purpose of cleaning the clutter. To make this truly effective I must refrain from bringing more stuff in to take its place so I will not be buying any new items until Earth Day either, (unless deemed an emergency and I have already determined that a 75% clearance at Target is not such an emergency). Should I also state that food is an obvious exception although my pantry is such a mess that I should really address that arena too.

What a fabulous idea! I think I'm going to try the same thing. One item a day doesn't seem quite so daunting.

Carla,

That is what I thought. I like having the support too. Makes it easier knowing others are trying to accomplish the same task.

Good for you!
We have been trying to spring clean, but with little luck. Take today... I should be home cleaning, sorting, and discarding, but I'm in a cafe blogging and Facebooking.

Quinn, I have no worries that you are living a very thin and necessary life.
